Plot summary
The book finds Jack Davis, the protagonist in this novel as well as Kuhns’s earlier novel China Fortunes, down-and-out. His investment banking business is going nowhere, and his girlfriend has kicked him out. Desperate for a deal, he gets an offer he can’t refuse from Dennis Costa, a business acquaintance from South Florida. Dennis’s company American Powerhouse is in the alternative energy business, something Jack knows all about. Dennis has a highly profitable renewable energy device, a perfect marketing pitch and an army of door-to-door salesmen—‘tin men’—selling hundreds of units, but the company is desperate for working capital. If Jack can help, Dennis will cut him in on half the business. Jack agrees, his name goes on the door and the company easily raises $20 million, but then he learns something Dennis neglected to tell him—the tin men are also selling cocaine.[4] It takes some heavy underworld characters, including Bruce Cutler and John Gotti, to get Jack out of this fix.
