The BNA was established in 1976 with the name of the Gulf News Agency.[1] In 2001 it was renamed as the Bahrain News Agency.[2] The agency is run under the Information Affairs Authority. It is a member of the Federation of Arab News Agencies.[3] The BNA has both Arabic and English publications and is based in Manama.[2]

In July 2013, the agency launched BNA Zaman, a service which documents Bahrain's landmark development achievements via pictures.[4]

gollark: You are FAILING!!!
gollark: You are not following THE B O O K.
gollark: Try subliminal messaging. Put speaker systems in the walls which constantly play TTSed paragraphs from the books.
gollark: We have large amounts of books too, but they're mostly just fiction, tons of random stuff on politics/finance, and also stuff like the history of Peru and random philsophy stuff..
