Babu Saheb
Babu Saheb (or Babu Sahib) is a term or sobriquet[1] used mainly in the Indian states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh[2] and Jharkhand to describe members of the Rajput and of Bhumihar Brahmin castes[3] who traditionally formed part of the royalty and feudal elite respectively.[4][5][6] The term is used interchangeably with Thakur, which is specifically used for the Rajput caste.[7] Many songs in the Bhojpuri language use the term to glorify the royal lineage of Rajputs that has been traced since the advent of aryans in the subcontinent.[8]
