B 612 (The Little Prince)

B 612 is the designation of the asteroid that is the home of the title character in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic novella The Little Prince. In the story, the asteroid is described as having two active volcanoes, an extinct volcano and a rose.[1]

The name of the asteroid 46610 Bésixdouze was suggested by F. Hemery and Jiří Grygar as a reference to the novella. The number 46610 is B612 written in hexadecimal notation, and Bésixdouze (French pronunciation: [be.sis.duːz]) is one way to pronounce B612 in French (lit. 'B six twelve').[2]

An open-source typeface designed for avionics, and developed for Airbus, was named B612.[3]
