With the M41 engine the first four-cylinder diesel engine was introduced by BMW.

Then engine derived from the M51D25 engine and shared 86% of the components, resulting in only 14% being newly developed.

This engine became available in several models of the E36 model series

  • 4-door sedan
  • 5-door touring
  • 3-door compact

Fuel consumption is around 6.5 L/100 km (43 mpgimp; 36 mpgUS) in combined use (EUR) in the 318tds 4-door sedan version.

Applications:

gollark: That's not the majority of users. Mostly you need the best thing *for your price range*.
gollark: <@665664987578236961> Nvidia does currently have more powerful cards at the higher end, sure, but so what?
gollark: More cores → more parallel processing ability.
gollark: Not really. Desktop systems aren't anywhere near as optimized for low power draw.
gollark: If you want portable, you should probably get a laptop or some sort of actually-power-consumption-optimized system.
