History

Audiomack was founded in 2012[1] by Dave Macli and David Ponte to allow artists to share mixtapes, songs, and albums[2]. In January, 2019, it announced it had reached 1.5 million daily active users across its mobile apps and site.[3] In April, 2013, J. Cole released "Yours Truly 2" and Chance the Rapper released "Acid Rap" on the service.[3] In September, 2018, Eminem released "Killshot", a diss track about Machine Gun Kelly, exclusively on Audiomack and gained 8.6 million plays in four months.[3] In February, 2019, Nicki Minaj released three songs[4], including a remix of Blueface's "Thotiana"[5], directly on the service.

Features

Audiomack is an on-demand streaming service. Offline playback is free to all users and not blocked by a paywall. Users and artists can upload their music to the service through its website, and Audiomack uses a combination of fingerprinting, DMCA takedown requests, and curation to police unauthorized sharing[6]. Audiomack does not limit or charge uploaders for storing content on the service. Audiomack also receives music through licensing deals with labels and distributors such as 300 and EMPIRE[7], and manages rights through its relationship to Songtrust.

Content

Audiomack runs several original content series, including Trap Symphony, which it has run with Migos[8][9], Chief Keef[10], and Rich the Kid[11], among others, and Fine Tuned, which has featured YNW Melly[12] and others.

gollark: ... why?
gollark: According to the political compass visualizer, which is completely accurateâ„¢, while you (komrad kit) and C4 are in the same quadrant and very close on the main two axes, you're opposite on the progressive/conservative ones.
gollark: ???
gollark: I just accept any request I get.
gollark: Does the friend thing actually *mean* anything anyway?
