Athletics at the 1984 Summer Paralympics – Women's 100 metres B1

The Women's 100 metres B1 was a sprinting event in athletics at the 1984 Summer Paralympics, for blind athletes. For the first time, category B was subdivided, with totally blind athletes running in the B1 event. Sixteen athletes took part, representing thirteen nations. Defending champion Grazyna Kozlowska of Poland was not among them. Spain's Purificacion Santamarta, competing in the event for the first time, won gold and set a new world record in 14.46s.[1]

The International Paralympic Committee's database does not record any heats, merely a "final round" in which all sixteen athletes took part. Of these, fifteen have a recorded time and rank, while Greece's Ekaterini Lakassa has none. The records do not specify whether she was a non-starter, or whether she failed to finish due to injury, or whether she was disqualified.[2]

gollark: qntm (writer of Ra and Fine Structure which are pretty good too)'s Antimemetics Division is an SCP Foundation thing dealing with "antimemes". The page conveniently describes an antimeme as "an idea with self-censoring properties; an idea which, by its intrinsic nature, discourages or prevents people from spreading it". Probably not for you if you don't really like the SCP horror-ish stuff, but good if you're into that.http://www.scp-wiki.net/antimemetics-division-hub
gollark: I imagine lots of people here will have already read (some of) them, but the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett is very good. Fantasy, though, not sci-fi.
gollark: You can't connect through your phone or something? I would never be left without internet connectivity, so I would.
gollark: Particularly with the new Apiaristics Division stuff. We have a one-way hallway now.
gollark: All are to.
