Taxonomy

A. albalineata was first described by Alfred Philpott in 1915 under the name Xanthorhoe albailineata from a specimen collected in December, at an altitude of 600 metres, on Table Hill on Stewart Island.[4][5] Dugdale states that the original spelling of albailineata and its repetition in the revision by Edward Meyrick was incorrect and that albalineata should be used.[3]

Description

This species is similar in appearance to Asaphodes oraria but can be distinguished from that species by the unusual pattern on the underside of its hindwings.[4] Philpott described these markings as "a straight white streak above middle from base to near termen, attenuated posteriorly, margined beneath with brownish-fuscous; a similar streak above dorsum."[4]

gollark: What am I actually banned for, though?
gollark: I would've been fine with removing the claim as long as I had a trusted subclaim and the pit remained but somehow nobody thought of that.
gollark: Yes, you did, somewhat passive aggressively.
gollark: I'm a UKian.
gollark: Which one's that?
