Arab City Melaka

Arab City Melaka was a commercial development in Melaka Island, Melaka, Malaysia. It was a joint venture between Golden Corporate Heritage Sdn Bhd (GCH) and Malacca's state company.[1] The project were billed at RM 1 Billion but has since been placed on hold.

History

This project is billed as "the first ever in the world".[2] Initially, the project was planned to be situated in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur in 2007. However, an attractive offer from Melaka's Chief Minister led to the project to move to Melaka.[3] According to the President of GCH, Sheikh Saleh Al Mansour said that the project is already marketed in 20 countries Arab. To begin with, GCH has released an initial investment of RM 400 million.[4] The project was planned to open up job opportunities for 800 people.[5] Local employees, who will make up 75 percent of the staff at the Arab city, will receive a seven-month training course on Arab language and culture to enable impeccable service to Arab and non tourists.[6] The project started in January 2009 and is scheduled for completion in 2012.[7] However, it was abandoned and the launch never took place.[8]

In 2015, Melaka Chief Minister, Idris Haron said that the state's government have established a special steering committee led by the state secretary to revive the project.[9]

Architecture

The project will be done in three separate areas. First phase will be built on Melaka Island, with area as large as 1.7 hectare[10] with the development of a three-storey shopping complex including an Arabian bazaar, Middle Eastern restaurants and cafes and a unisex Arabic health and beauty spa. The second phase will be done in Klebang where it will have a five-star hotel, a water theme park, an aquarium and a floating restaurant. An Arab Village will be constructed at Kampung Jawa as part of the third phase of the project.[11]

gollark: My very guessed predictions for the PC market's future in the next 10 years:- ARM will become more of a thing in laptops and perhaps servers, but x86 will continue to stick around a lot- Phones (with portable dock things with extra batteries, keyboards and bigger screens) will take over from laptops for a lot of people's casual uses.- HDDs will mostly cease to exist in the average person's devices and mostly be used in servers, some people's desktops for whatever reason, and NASes- CPU clock speeds/IPC will continue increasing slowly and we'll get moar coar and more GPU offloading to compensate- Persistent RAM stuff like Optane will get used a bit but remain mostly niche
