Aotea is the newest suburb of Porirua. The oldest house was granted its consent in November 2005. It has two children's playgrounds and a retirement home. It is within a short distance of the Porirua transit hub.

Education
Aotea College is a co-educational state secondary school for Year 9 to 13 students,[1] with a roll of 1083 as of March 2020.[2] It was founded in 1978.[3]
