Antony Unwin

Antony Unwin is a German statistics professor, software developer, and author. Unwin works at the University of Augsburg in Germany, where he is known for being the first computer-oriented statistics professor.[1]

Work

Unwin is the author of numerous books and articles on data visualization. He has worked with Andrew Gelman, the applied statistics director at Columbia University.[2] In January 2020, Unwin spoke out against the latest AIGA Design Census, saying, "it’s very disappointing. I would expect something better from such an august body."[3] Unwin was the PhD advisor for Heike Hofmann, another statistician known for her work on data visualization.

Recognition

Unwin was elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2007.[7]
