Antonio Piedra (producer)

Antonio Piedra (born Antonio Jose Piedra Marcano on May 2, 1969), is a Venezuelan film and television director and producer, photographer and philanthropist. This Miami-based talent is known for his highly regarded videos and music videos. He's taken his creativity and skill into commercial production.

Biography

Antonio Piedra (born May 2, 1969) is a Venezuelan film and television director and producer. He shoots and produces many of his projects in South Florida where his family emigrated to when yet he was child. The cultural diversity that had this place, influenced him in his way of seeing the world and make their future work.[1] has written, produced and directed is known for directing commercials with films characterized by their fast edits, stylistic visuals and substantial humor.

Career

Antonio Piedra became a producer and director. His first professional TV job came when he was hired to do a short-lived entertainment TV show called The Hot Spot. The show led him to pursue work behind the camera. Later, Piedra produced and directed many infomercials and over 100 commercials. He's won various awards including the PSA, "Daddy's Home" for a national Domestic Violence campaign. His work is known to be highly stylized on all his productions.[2] Piedra has 15 years working in television and movies and he worked on a dozen films, over 30 music videos, over 100 commercials and several television shows.[1] He has produced and/or directed close to 35 high-profile videos including videos for Missy Elliott, Shaggy, Wyclef Jean, Lumidee, Shaquille O'Neal, Pitbull and Hawthorne Heights. He is also a movie producer having collaborated on almost a dozen independent films including Sony Picture's "Shottas" and "Lost Everything".[2]

Moreover, Antonio Piedra joined to The Feature Film Group, an Independent Film Company working on producing Full-length Feature Films for presentation in theaters. He joined the company as Company's Managing Member since that the Company became operational and he worked in film financing, production, handling, packaging and project management. From 1996 to 1998, Piedra exerted the work of writer, producer and / or director of advertising, working with companies – clients such as Nike, Microsoft, American Express and Carter-Wallace. In 1998 he worked on some productions that were released in several television networks (such as ABC, ESPN, CBS, FOX and Discovery Channel). In 1999, Piedra was line producer for the award-winning independent film "Fugue". In 2002, Piedra contributed to productions for multi-platinum artists some (Missy Elliott, Wyclef Jean, 98 Degrees and Hanson). In 2002, Piedra was the Line Producer and Production Manager of the movie "Shottas". In 2007, Antonio produced "Lost Everything" a full-length feature film that received warm reviews when it premiered at the Ft. Lauderdale FIlm Festival in 2008.

Over the last decade, Piedra has been Production Manager and Director at Chaos Films, Executive Producer and Head of Production at 1 Media Group and is currently working on a sports theme docudrama for television and 2 feature films.

Awards

  • In 1999, Piedra won the National Distinction Award for Best Public Service Announcement.[3]

Antonio Piedra had cameo roles in "Lost Everything" and several music videos including Petey Pablo and Oowee's "Chain Swingin'" as well as small uncredited parts in films such as Donnie Brasco and Bad Boys 2.[2]
