Youth Ki Awaaz

When he was 17 years old, Tewari founded Youth Ki Awaaz (YKA) in 2008 while still in high school as a platform for Indian young people to share stories and issues that mattered to them, who felt issues relevant to them had been neglected by mainstream media.[3] He continued working on YKA while at the University of Delhi, where he studied journalism.

Fearful using ad-revenue might influence the content presented on his site, Tewari developed a viable business model that generated income for YKA through offline events and non-profit sponsorships.[3] YKA has become India's #1 youth portal for media,[4] now with four million monthly readers and 75,000 users.[5] In his current role, Tewari leads YKA's business development and strategic vision.[6]

Honors and awards

Tewari was selected as a United Nations ITU Young Innovator in 2012.[7] Tewari was named an Ashoka Fellow in 2015.[8] Subsequently, he was named an INK Fellow.[4] In 2018, Tewari was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in Asia for Media, Marketing & Advertising.[5]

He serves on the board of Jhatkaa as a trustee, an organization whose mission is to build empower the Indian citizenry from the grassroots.[9] He is also on the Board of Directors of Collectively, a World Economic Forum and Unilever collaborative non-profit.[6]

Tewari participated in the Obama Foundation’s Town Hall in New Delhi on December 1, 2017.[10]

gollark: Ah yes, that's a start.
gollark: If you pick a word to start with, then the next possibilities for your thing are a limited subset of all words - those without the letters in said first word. Though admittedly checking that would be slow too.
gollark: `/usr/share/dict/words` or `wc`?
