Anne Helen Petersen

Anne Helen Petersen is an American writer and journalist based in Missoula, Montana.[1] She works as a Senior Culture Writer for Buzzfeed.[1]

Petersen earned a PhD in media studies from the University of Texas. While working as a visiting professor, Petersen began writing about popular culture topics for online news and entertainment sites and found that she enjoyed non-academic writing.[2] She began writing full-time for Buzzfeed in May 2014, after struggling to find academic work.[2] In 2014 Petersen authored her first book, the non-fiction Scandals of Classic Hollywood.

In 2017 Petersen wrote a controversial article for Buzzfeed, mocking actor Armie Hammer's career from 2007 to 2017. The article provoked pointed criticism and backlash from Hammer, film industry figures, and other journalists.[3] Subsequently, Petersen claimed to have received online harassment. [4]
