Angostura trifoliata is a medicinal plant[2] native to South America. Its bark is commonly misconstrued as being used in Angostura brand bitters, which is named after the town in Venezuela.

Angostura bark is, however, used in a number of other aromatic bitters, such as Abbott's Bitters and Fever Tree Aromatic tonic water.[3]
