Amjad Atallah
Amjad Atallah is the managing director of Doha Debates, a solutions-focused global debate series launched in December 2018.[1] He previously served as a news executive, human rights activist and humanitarian.[2]

A native of Gary, Indiana, Atallah received Bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor degree from American University's Washington College of Law. He is a member of the New York Bar.[3]
Before joining Doha Debates, Atallah served as Al Jazeera America's editor-in-chief and Al Jazeera English's bureau chief for the Americas. He also was part of the AJ+ launch team. Atallah was in senior roles with Al Jazeera 2011-2017.[4]
From 2008 to 2011, Atallah was as a director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation and co-editor of Foreign Policy magazine's Middle East Channel.[5]
In 1993, he co-founded Women for Women International, a non-profit humanitarian organization that helps and supports women survivors of war.[6]
In July 2018, Amjad was chosen to launch and lead Doha Debates, a production of Qatar Foundation.[7]
