Amar Rashid

Amar Rashid (Urdu: امر رشید; born 16 May 1986) is an English cricketer. Rashid is a right-handed batsman who bowls leg break. He was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Family

Rashid's family belongs to the Mirpuri community in Pakistan, his family having migrated to England in 1967 from Azad Kashmir.[1]

His brothers Haroon and Adil are also cricketers.[2]

Cricketing career

Rashid played has previously non first-class cricket for Leeds/Bradford UCCE from 20032007, as well as Second XI cricket for the Worcestershire Second XI in 20072008 and the Leicestershire Second XI in 2010.[3] On 28 February 2011 it was announced that Rashid had signed for the Unicorns for the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40.[4] It was in this competition that he made his List A debut against Lancashire. His maiden wicket, which came in this match, was that of Stephen Moore. He made eight further List A appearances for the Unicorns in the 2011 competition,[5] taking a total of 4 wickets at an average of 72.50, with best figures of 1/30.[6] He also scored 61 runs in these matches, which came at a batting average of 12.20, with a high score of 24 not out.[7]
