Alphasphaerolipovirus

Alphasphaerolipovirus is a genus of double stranded DNA viruses that infect haloarchaea.[1] There are four species currently recognized in this genus.

Morphology

Viruses of this genus are tailless icosahedral virions with an internal lipid membrane located between the protein capsid and the linear double stranded DNA genome.

Note

The name Halosphaerovirus was also proposed for this genus.[2]
