Ali Haider (singer)

Ali Haider (Urdu:علی حیدر, born 22 September 1967) is a Pakistani singer.[1] He had a number of popular songs in the 1990s, the most notable being "Poorani Jeans", which appears on his 1993 album Sandesa.[2] He also had a hit later in the 1990s with "Chand Sa Mukhra". He has also acted in numerous serials on PTV, including Chand Sa Mukhra.

He is currently a disc jockey at Radio Dabang / Dabang FM 99.5 in Houston, Texas. He hosts a show called Purani Jeans, named after his popular song.

Career

Haider started his career when he was pursuing a civil engineering degree at NED University.

He acted in the Lollywood film Chalo Ishq Larain, released in 2002.[3] He worked in the PTV long play Pyar Agar Kabhi Phir Hua. He sang the theme music for the serial Chandni Raatein.

In 2012, he returned to music after a three-year break following the death of his son.[4]

In 2013, he returned to TV with the sitcom Ek aur Ek Dhai.[5]

Personal life

Ali Haider was born in an Urdu-speaking family of Karachi located in Pakistan. He is the only son of his parents and has 3 sisters. Haider married in 2006.[6]
