Alfarje

Alfarje (meaning paneled ceiling) is a type of horizontal wooden ceiling primarily found in Islamic[1] and Spanish Moorish architecture. The ceiling structure is made through a series of beams called girders, sometimes intricately carved and stylized.[2]

Notable buildings using the alfarje include Alcázar of Seville, the Mosque of Cordoba, the Alhambra Palace in Granada or the Church of San Millán (Segovia) and Aljafería Palace of Zaragoza.
