Alexander Birger
Lieutenant General Alexander Karlovich Birger (1847 – November 12, 1918) was a Russian soldier. He fought in the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905).[1]

Biography
Alexander Birger graduated from the 1st St. Petersburg Military Gymnasium in 1865. In 1867 he graduated from the Pavel Military School. In 1874 he graduated from the General Staff Academy (Imperial Russia). He fought in the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), and was promoted to Podpolkovnik (1878). In 1880, Birger became a Polkovnik.
Beginning in 1881, he was the chief of staff of the 6th Cavalry Division. In 1884, Birger was made the chief of staff of the 22nd Infantry Division. Six years later, in 1890, he became commander of the 90th Infantry Regiment. Birger was made the chief of staff of the 13th Army Corps in 1895. That year he was promoted to major general. In 1903, Birger became head of the 41st Infantry Division, and promoted to lieutenant general. From June to September 1905, a general for commissions under the commander of the 3rd Manchurian army.
Had 3 children.
