Alexey, Alexei, Alexie, or Aleksey (Russian: Алексе́й [ɐlʲɪkˈsʲej]; Bulgarian: Алексей [ɐlɛkˈsɛj]) is a Russian and Bulgarian male first name deriving from the Greek Aléxios (Αλέξιος), meaning "Defender", and thus of the same origin as the Latin Alexius.
