History

The barracks were established, on the site of the former RAF Topcliffe airbase, in 1974, as an ordnance field park.[1] The barracks were named Alanbrooke Barracks after Field Marshal Viscount Alanbrooke, a former Royal Artillery officer, when 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery took over the site in 1977.[2] The barracks continued the tradition of being an artillery base with the arrival of 49th Regiment Royal Artillery in 1982,[3] 19th Regiment Royal Artillery in 1990[4] and 40th Regiment Royal Artillery in 1998.[5]

The barracks were also home to 15th Infantry Brigade from January 1982 to November 1992.[6]

4th Regiment Royal Artillery has been based at Alanbrooke Barracks since 2008.[7]

gollark: The callback way is stupid. You're basically writing compiler output manually.
gollark: This looks neat. I may try and see if I can harvest Google Colab GPU capacity to train this on my Discord message dataset. https://github.com/EleutherAI/gpt-neo
gollark: It's fine as long as you don't do stupid/accursed/traditionally-mola things.
gollark: I doubt this.
gollark: And whatever framework it's using can't just serve static files conveniently?
