Career
Mulcahy attended IT Tallaght, whom he represented in soccer. While there he was twice chosen for the Irish Colleges International team, in 2004/05 and 2005/06. He journeyed with the team to places like America and Cyprus where he was part of the team that enjoyed a good win over a professional Cypriot side in January 2004.[1]
Before signing for Kildare County for the 2006 season,[2] Mulcahy plied his trade at Kilkenny City in 2004 and the now defunct Dublin City in 2005. He made 24 league appearances for County including once scoring from the penalty spot against Finn Harps at Finn Park.
Mulcahy was released by County at the end of the 2006 season, Mulcahy spent only one season at Waterford before he linked up with his former Dublin City boss Dermot Keely at Shelbourne for the 2008 season.[3] Mulcahy made his Shelbourne debut as a second-half substitute in a scoreless draw against Dundalk at Tolka Park on 7 March 2008.[4] He was largely utilised as an impact substitute at Shelbourne where he impressed to help the Reds to the summit of First Division table during the first half of the 2008 season. Mulcahy departed Shelbourne in June 2008 in order to travel to Australia. During his short spell at the Tolka Park club he made 2 starts and 8 substitute appearances in all competitions.
Alan relocated to Australia in 2009, where he first joined Springvale White Eagles in the Victorian State League 1.[5] He joined Port Melbourne SC from Dandenong Thunder SC in a mid-season switch in 2015. He then left Port Melbourne and joined Richmond SC in mid-2016.[6][7]
