Akın Akınözü

Süreyya Akın Akınözü (born 22 September 1990)[2] is a Turkish actor known for his main leading role as Miran Aslanbey in the successful Turkish TV series Hercai (Fickle Heart, 2019).[3]

Early life

Akın Akınözü was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1990 and is the only child of a retired actress Özlem Akınözü and a restaurant owner Tamer Akınözü. His maternal grandfather was one of the first TV presenters on TRT (Turkish Radio and Television); as his great-uncle Suha Arin is known as "The Father of Turkish Documentaries".

Akın’s childhood was spent in between living in Turkey, and in the United States of America where his elementary school years were spent with his uncle. Later on, Akin moved back to Turkey where he attended and graduated with his High School Diploma from Ankara TED High School.

Upon high school graduation, Akin choose to continue his university Education in the United States. In one of the best ranked public universities in California; The University of California, Berkeley; where he spent 6 years of study, majoring in Applied Mathematics. At his last years at UC Berkeley Akin decided to travel back to Turkey to focus on becoming an actor.[4]

Akın Akınözü is a pescatarian, and sportsman with a particular fondness for boxing, and weightlifting. His hobbies include reading, watching a lot of movies and documentaries, so as listing to music.

Akın Akınözü is bilingual as he is fluent in his home language Turkish, and English.

Career

He made his first appearance as a supporting role actor named Gaffur in 2014, in the Azrail feature film.

In 2015, he appeared on Television Screens for the first time with the Sprctacular Century series; he had a supporting role as the character Ivan Ali in Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem.[5]

In 2016, Akın Akınözü appeared on another TV series called Arkadaşlar İyidir[6], with a supporting role as Yunus Çağlayan.

In 2017-2018 Akın Akınözü, had double series; as he appeared in Aslan Ailem[7] with a leading role of Murat Aslan, and also appeared in Payitaht Abdülhamid[8] in a supporting role as Ömer.

In 2019-, where Akın Akınözü became well known in Turkey and worldwide for his leading role of the character Miran Aslanbey in Hercai[9].

Awards;

Akınözü's performance as Miran in Hercai has earned him awards such as: "Best Actor in a Dramatic Series" (24th Golden Lens Awards of the Magazine Journalists Association 2019), and "Best Couple in a TV series", which he shares with Hercai co-star Ebru Sahin (Ayaklı Newspaper Awards 2020).[10] He was also awarded the Spanish television station Nova Atresmedia's Premio Nova Mas's Best Male Actor in 2019 and Mister Nova 2019.[11]
