In 2018, Pittman was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives from the 99th district, which her mother had held, to replace Representative George E. Young, who had run for a seat in the Oklahoma Senate.[6][3] She was the third Seminole to serve in the Oklahoma Legislature.[4]

In 2020, Pittman ran for reelection and in the Democratic primary she was challenged by Susan Porter, the daughter of E. Melvin Porter who was the first black member of the Oklahoma Senate.[3] She narrowly defeated Porter in the Democratic primary.[7]

In 2020, Pittman was appointed to the Joint Legislative Committee on State and Tribal Relations by Speaker of the House Charles McCall.[8] She is a member of the Oklahoma Legislature Black Caucus.[9]

During the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries Pittman endorsed Joe Biden for the presidential nomination.[10]

Political positions

In 2020, Pittman was endorsed by EMILY's List.[11]

gollark: See: IPv4, PHP, the mess of the modern web.
gollark: I don't think this is a good rule in software, since things can be sort of broken while remaining usable.
