Sports
Aiken High School's mascot is the Hornet.
Aiken won the South Carolina AAAA football championship in 1992.[2] The school was ranked as high as No. 1 in South Carolina in basketball for the 2006–2007 season.
Aiken High's volleyball team won the class AAAA state championship in 2010.
History
Aiken High School was founded in 1888 by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, and named Aiken Institute. In 1935, the name was changed to Aiken High School. In 1955, Windsor High School of Windsor, South Carolina consolidated with Aiken high School. [3]
