Khalef then coached Amanat Baghdad for 3 years, led Al-Najaf for one month, also was an assistant in Iraq national team for Srečko Katanec. Then left after Asian cup, Khalaf is now coaching Al-Talaba since October 2019.

Amanat Baghdad SC

Khalef started as an assistant coach to Thair Ahmed in Amanat Baghdad SC. Khalef then took the caretaker job due to Thair Ahmed illnesses. Then Khalef was appointed as Baghdad coach in June 2015.[1] Khalef stayed 3 years with the team, creating many good players, and having decent scores. His main success was reaching the 2016–17 Iraq FA Cup (Semi-Final). Then Khalef stepped out in 2018, due to the big 3–0 loss against Al-Najaf.[2]

Al-Najaf FC

After long negotiations, Ahmed Khalef took lead of Al-Najaf on August 2018. Khalef took lead of Al-Najaf for a month.[3] Khalef stepped out after one month because he was offered the assistant coach role in the Iraq team, as an assistant to coach Srecko Katanec.[4]

Iraq national football team

After stepping out from Al-Najaf, Khalef stayed with the Iraqi team for around five months as assistant coach.[5] Khalef surprisingly left on 27 of February, after Asian cup 2019. Problems with the association and coach Srečko Katanec led to the association decision to remove the Iraqi coach.[6]

Al-Talaba SC

Khalaf started coaching Al-Talaba since October 2019. Khalaf came to lead the Al-Aneeq after the resignation of Thair Jassam. Khalaf assistant were Fareed Majeed, and Wasfi Jabbar was the Goalkeeping coach (After Emad Hashim left on January 1 of 2020).[7]

gollark: Is that *possible*?
gollark: Clearly what we need is Rust, but with less glacially slow compiles somehow?
gollark: I am very lazy, so I try and do as little work as possible.
gollark: I'm not sure I know of anyone who unironically thinks more code is better though.
gollark: You *can* use no_std rust and still get the borrow checker, although you also get the compiler being quite big.
