Accra Lions FC

Accra Lions Football Club is a professional sports club based in East Legon, Accra, Ghana. The club is competing in the Division One League, the second-tier of Ghana Football and in the Ghanaian FA Cup.[4] They play their home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium.[5] Rainer Kraft is the coach of the side.

History

Accra Lions Football Club was founded on 12 December 2015.[6]

They secure promotion after just two seasons in the Greater Accra Division Two after winning the Zone IV division with a record 73 points in 28 matches to qualify for the middle league.[7]

During the Greater Accra promotional playoffs at the Tema Sports Stadium, Accra Lions booked the sole qualification ticket with a 100% winning record. They beat Emmanuel FC (4-1), R-Stakes (3-0) and Photizo Future Professionals (2-0) to slot into Division One Zone III which includes clubs based in Greater Accra, Eastern Region and Volta Region.[8]

On 28 January 2018, Accra Lions officially announced the Accra Sports Stadium as their new home ground for the 2017/2018 Division One League.[9]

In 2018 they made their debut in the Ghana Division One- Zone Three[10] and in the Ghanaian FA Cup.[11]
