Abdur Razzaq Iskander

Abdur Razzaq Iskander (born; 1935) (Urdu: مولانا ڈاکٹر عبدالرزاق اسکندر) is a Pakistani Islamic scholar and writer. He is the incumbent chancellor and Sheikh-ul-Hadith of Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia[1], Emir of the Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat[2] and President of Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia, Pakistan[3].

Early life and Education

Abdur Razzaq was born in a religious family in Kakul, Abbottabad to Sikandar Khan bin Zaman Khan. He got his early education in his hometown. After that he studied for two years in Madrassa Darul Uloom Chohar Sharif, Haripur and for two years in Ahmed Al-Madrassa Sikandarpur. Then he studied the 4th to 6th years of Dars-i Nizami in Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi, 7th year and Dora E Hadees from Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia in 1956 - he was the first student of Dars-i Nizami in this madrassa. After that, he enrolled in the Islamic University of Madinah in 1962 and studied theology for four years. Later enrolled in Al-Azhar University in 1972, and completed his doctorate.[4]

He was the disciple of Muhammad Yousuf Banuri, in addition, he benefited from the company of Muhammad Zakariyya al-Kandhlawi and Abdul Hai Arifi. And permission of allegiance and caliphate was obtained from Muhammad Yusuf Ludhianvi and Muhammad Sarfaraz Khan Safdar[4].

Career

Abdur Razzaq has been teaching since 1955 in various institutions. During his studies in Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi and Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia he started teaching. In 1997 he was made a member of the working committee of the Wifaq ul Madaris. He also served as Vice President of Wifaq ul Madaris from 30 September 2001 to 5 October 2017[5]. After the death of Saleemullah Khan, he remained acting president for about 9 months. On October 05, 2017, he was unanimously elected Permanent President[4].

In 1981 he was elected a member of the Majlis-e-Shura of Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat. After the demise of Sayed Nafees al-Hussaini in 2008, he was made the Central Deputy Amir of Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat. After the death of Maulana Abdul Majeed Ludhianvi in 2015, he was elected the Emir of AMTKN[4].

He is also president of Ittehad-e-Tanzeemat-Madaris Pakistan[6].

Literary works

Most of his works are translated from Urdu to Arabic and some from Arabic to Urdu.
