A. H. Jami

Avad bin Hassan Jami (1953 – 11 July 2020) was an Indian cartoonist.

Career

Jami was born in Dhrol in 1953.[1] He was a drawing teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jamnagar.[2][3]

He worked with several publications. He started publishing cartoons in Rangtarang magazine. His cartoons were later published in Anjali and Chandani magazines.[1] After retirement, he became a full time cartoonist. He worked with Abhiyan, a Gujarati magazine, for two decades and published cartoons under pseudonym Tikadam.[2][3][1] He had also worked with Phoolchhab daily as well.[2][3]

He died on 11 July 2020 in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India.[2][3]

Recognition

Jami was awarded Helpful Citizens' Award in 1993. He was felicitated as the Best Cartoonist by the Government of Gujarat in 1994.[1]
