The program was conceived as an attempt to "reunify the Chilean people" and was first aired in 1976, being the first newscast from the public channel. Some of the well-known presenters were Julio López Blanco, Pepe Abad, Raúl Matas, Bernardo de la Maza, Raquel Argandoña, Eduardo Cruz-Johnson, Paulina Nin de Cardona, Margot Kahl, Juan Guillermo Vivado and Pedro Carcuro.

The program's most memorable broadcast was the live interview with Augusto Pinochet, immediately after his assassination attempt on 7 September 1986.

The show formed the basis for the satirical children's puppetry series 31 Minutos.
