2017 Speed Chess Championship

The 2017 Speed Chess Championship (SCC) was a 16-player chess single-elimination tournament to determine the speed chess champion of 2017.[1] Originally called the Grandmaster Blitz Battle Championship, it was renamed and expanded to allow more players to participate in the tournament. The second edition of the tournament (and first with the new name) began on April 4 with the first SCC Qualifier and ended on January 3 with Magnus Carlsen defending his title while cruising against Hikaru Nakamura.[2]
