1st Royal Naval Brigade

The 1st Royal Naval Brigade was an infantry brigade of the Royal Navy. It was assigned to the 63rd (Royal Naval) Division and served on the Western Front during the First World War.

The brigade was raised in August 1914, from surplus naval reserves. By April 1915, it was known as 1st (Royal Naval) Brigade, but was re-designated as 1st Brigade on 2 August 1915. The Brigade was broken up on 2 July 1916, the staff joining the 3rd (Royal Marine) Brigade.

Formation

The infantry battalions did not all serve at once, but all were assigned to the brigade during the war.

gollark: They're mostly overrated.
gollark: HTTPS is supported on *most* sites now.
gollark: I mean, as of now they can make money by *looking* privacy friendly, and they are more so than google.
gollark: They're arguably worse since their software is closed source and their phones' software cannot be replaced.
gollark: Although they probably still would contain US-designed ARM cores and stuff.
