1949 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship

The 1949 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship was the first edition of the tournament, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia from 10 to 18 September 1949. Ten nations participated in the inaugural tournament. Soviet Union claimed the gold medal, by winning the Final Six round-robin tournament without dropping a match.
