Steg Jambles.

Steg Jambles was the harpooneer of the Galerider and the mentor of Tem Barkwater. He was eaten by a Bloodoak in the Deepwoods after he saved Tem Barkwater from that very same fate.

Trivia

Steg's appearance is one of the many Errors and Inconsistencies in the Edge Chronicles. In Clash of the Sky Galleons he is depicted as reasonably young and athletic, whereas in Cloud Wolf he is short and fat with greying hair.
