Nose-pieces were beak-like silver instruments that fit over the nose, mainly worn by mistsifters in Sanctaphrax.

Although invented for the purpose of air purification, nose-pieces were also used by academics such as mistsifters, often of high acclaim engaging in illicit activities, wishing to remain anonymous. In The Curse of the Gloamglozer, the sub-dean of the School of Mist, Seftus Leprix, wore a nose-piece.
