Bark-mildew

Bark-mildew was a fungus found in various places in the Edgeworld, often infesting old barkscrolls. It had a distinctive smell that was familiar to any librarian, along with the smell of woodcamphor. The unknown librarian apprentice smelled bark-mildew when he visited the New Great Library to find Arboris Helquix's treatise on sweetwood.[1]
