My connections to various Amazon EC2 run websites seems to timeout every few minutes. Then it starts connecting again a minute or so later. I suspect this is due to a faulty route set along the way, but I’m not sure how to fix it. The status pages of these websites don’t report anything wrong, and non-EC2 websites work just fine.
Is there anything I can do to reroute these IP ranges? It does look like some of the data makes it there (slack messages show up as sent at the correct time when it reconnects), so maybe it’s the route back to me that’s failing?
edit: Not using a VPN, flaky connections happen both on my Ubuntu Linux box, Windows desktop, and Mac laptop, but specifically only to EC2 IPs (that I know of).
Please edit your question to provide some more details. Such as what OS you are on, what your Internet connection is (provider if possible) and where in the world you are physically located. Also, are you by chance using a VPN? – JakeGould – 2015-10-19T02:13:13.410
So, this morning the problem still persisted. I connected to a VPN and everything worked fine with connecting to sites through the VPN. This is not a long term solution however, but I suspect the problem is with my ISP now, and I will call them. – yincrash – 2015-10-19T15:30:31.587
