Remote Desktop Connection not working on Windows 8.1

0

I am having an issue with RDP on Windows 8.1. Just several days ago RDC worked fine but now it does not. VPN connects ok but not RDC.

The tips on sysprobs.com are good but did not help.

When I launch RDP it keeps saying "Initialize Remote Connection ... " and then comes up with a message box:

Remote Desktop Connection

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:

  1. Remote access to the servier is not enabled
  2. The remote computer is turned off
  3. The remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

I made 2 new rules in the Windows firewall to enable access to port 3389, but that did not help either.

This only happens when trying to access remote servers that are not on our network. Internal network's RDP still works ok.

You need to give much more information. In what way does it "not work"? What happens when you try to use the software? Do you get any error messages? Did you make any changes to the machine recently? – David Richerby – 2015-08-16T22:34:15.333
