Windows 7 Workgroup Issue

0

This is a p2p network on Windows 7 and none are running a server OS.

Let's call computer A "master" because it will house some data. Let's call the other computers "slaves".

I know that I am already leading with a misnomer because there is no actual server governing the network.

The effect that I was going after is already in place automatically: I wanted the master to see the slaves but not the other way around, while still being accessible for data usage and manipulation. In every sense, it seems that Windows did that automatically.

The master currently is just sitting there with no monitor, keyboard or mouse and RDP works just fine on all the slaves.

I had to update some files on the master, which should have just been a drag and drop. Even logged in as the super administrator, I couldn't see the master in the network window.

How can I change that so that specific users can actually access the master from a slave computer?

Any Thoughts?

The term you are looking for is Workgroup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workgroup_%28computer_networking%29

Well thank you for the nomenclature but that still doesn't help. – jrb805 – 2015-04-19T05:27:50.450

Can you try accessing the machine's network share in the form \machine-IP. Also you will need to enable File Sharing in Network and Sharing Center to access the share. – Ganesh R. – 2015-04-19T08:39:54.657
