Does minimizing programs in Windows affect their performance?

0

I feel like when i minimize some programs like download manager, torrent client or other programs that are in progress, their performance decreases in comparison to programs that are shown on monitor.

for example the download speed in torrent client or download manager decreases when i minimize them and when i maximize them again i see their speed increases. this also happens in other situations like when i'm installing a software or encrypting/decrypting some files. it's been a long time since I've had this issue. when i check their priority in task manager it's still the same. so does minimizing programs change their priority?

Yes. didn't show up in the suggested questions, thanks – None – 2015-03-03T15:14:47.447

What happens when a program is minimized is entirely up to the author. This question for that reason seems extremely broad. – Ramhound – 2015-03-03T16:07:22.210

Those programs i mentioned were some examples for my question in order to show some effort and not to just throw a question. – None – 2015-03-03T16:13:59.167

Understood. The question is still broad. What happens while a program is minimized program is 100% dependent on the program. This is the reason you can have 5 similar programs, say a video player, and 4 will continue to play the video/audio while minimized and the last one will pause the video/audio. – Ramhound – 2015-03-03T16:16:10.077

Okay i understand. so it's duplicate and also broad – None – 2015-03-03T16:20:56.763
