2Does the power LED turn on? Have you tried connecting external screen? – gronostaj – 2015-02-03T19:20:08.300
yes, the power led turn on, i can hear the fan spinning, it goes on like that forever, and yes i tried hooking it up to a screen.. i get no signal – macphail magwira – 2015-02-03T20:36:51.650
Can you hear the Windows welcome sound? If your volume is usually down, then turn laptop on and leave it like that for 10 minutes (to make sure it boots completely, if it does), then hold the "volume up" key combo (probably
Fn
+Up
). Hold power button until it powers off. Then press it again and listen for the boot sound. – gronostaj – 2015-02-03T21:01:41.3602Do you get hard disk light activity? This could rule out a dying motherboard... If you get hard disk activity consistent with Windows booting then it might be the graphics adapter on the laptop. I'd move toward a dead graphics card if you get no video from the external/VGA to an external monitor as well. If you get no HDD activity then the machine is not booting/POSTing. – Kinnectus – 2015-02-03T21:17:43.890
gronostaj ill try that but usually i dont hear any loading of windows, windows 8 that is even if i leave it all night @Big Chris i just noticed the harddisk led is not flashing at all..what does that mean and what do i do – macphail magwira – 2015-02-04T05:19:33.237
2No HDD light flashing at all when you power on the laptop and you are sure the disk is five then I would start to think about getting the device to an Acer repair specialist to diagnose or possibly replace a motherboard. Might not be cheap. If the laptop is under warranty then begin the repair process... – Kinnectus – 2015-02-04T08:10:33.393
