How to set the Metro app font size to "larger" when not offered?

1

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which has a very high resolution display (3200x1800). In desktop mode, this is quite nice, since it gives me really sharp fonts (with the appropriate DPI setting). However, in "Modern"/Metro apps, I find the font size of most text to be a bit too small.

There is a setting called "Change size of apps text and others" at "Settings/PC and Devices/Screen"*, however the only options available are "Standard" and "Smaller". I know that other people have the option "Larger" (this person has the opposite problem). How can I set this to the larger setting?

Is it known what factors make the different setting available? For example, on some very low-resolution screens, the "smaller" setting is hidden. I can imagine reported physical screen size plays a role, too.

I know I can change the font sizes in individual apps sometimes, but I want to change this setting since it affects text everywhere. If there is no official trick, a registry hack or even a file patch would be OK.

RE: Windows 8.1 Metro UI font size and Apps

3200 x 1800 is over-kill (to me) and would make everything on the screen so very small, pending the distance you sit from the screen. I would not even use it on Full HD (1080i) unless a movie calls for it.

I am personally looking for the same solution, and have searched many sites. However, for now, this is what I do.

On one computer, I reduce the Max resolution from 1920 x 1080 to [1600 x 900] as the screen is around 32 in. On the larger screen that I sit 8 feet from, I set the resolution to [1366 x 768] and up the Display setting to 125%. If not using metro apps, I default my setting to 1280 x 720, as most videos that I like to watch are at that resolution.

This doesn't help METRO fonts, but I set [BOLD] for all my font settings. I understand there are some adjustments (tweaks) to also force apps to work in a lower resolution as I found 1080 x 720 doesn't work for metro apps. However the tweak I found would not work for my computer, which was odd. I have been to MS website all over and have not as yet found a solution.

Do note this, I think the font in Windows Store app is way to small likewise for the METRO UI START screen. However, if you look in the App section, where they are Displayed by category, or whatever you choose, you will find the FONT a tad larger. For a long while, I set my settings to open the App Screen and not the Start menu for that reason, because I can see all apps, and it is acceptably categorized. I really don't use metro apps, and find them loading slower than desktop apps. They don't really close if you X them out. To close them you need to drag from top to bottom and hold till they change to a solid icon and then release, or close them in Task manager, or use ALT F4 which seems to do the job also.
