I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop which is about five years old. Yesterday the enter, backslash, 7, 8 and * from the right hand side all stopped working at the same time. I have not spilled anything and using an onscreen keyboard works. How do I ascertain if this is a keyboard, motherboard or some other issue. I appreciate and thank you for any help offered but please note that I cannot comprehend overly technical language. Thanks.
1Please provide a model number in your question so we can lookup your keyboard layout. – agtoever – 2014-09-25T19:43:50.133
1You have a "wireless keyboard" tag. Is the problem with the built-in laptop keyboard or an external wireless keyboard? – fixer1234 – 2014-09-25T19:51:53.027
Maybe a virus. If you checked your keyboard on other's PCs then software or motherboard problem. – UltraDEVV – 2014-09-25T21:38:43.720
Thanks for all three replies. It is def not a virus. The keyboard is located internally within my laptop (does this make it wireless?) and as a result I can't check on other computers. I have a TOSHIBA SATELLITE L550 OOP. I removed the keyboard and retrieved the following info (sorry if there is too much info but I am unsure which numbers are relevant): KB K000086550 WK 938K, Model No: N8K THK2M, DARFON P/N: 9Z.N1Z82.K2M, PK 130742A28 099A A0 0190, Version Canadian/Bilingual, Rev: A00. The ribbon contained the following: 4H +NIXOM.OOU B, NSK-THOOI-UK, 98090805. Thanks very much! – Melissa Smith – 2014-09-27T15:38:51.627
