Problems with changing Windows account name

-1

I am the administrator of my computer. I changed the name from, say, "A" to "B", where "A" is the old name and "B" is the new one. After I changed, immediately there were problems. Firstly, all my AppData were mysteriously gone. Secondly, the C:\Users folder contains two folders, one named "A" and another one named "B".

I don't know which one contains what, but browsers like Chrome were reset to their default state, and many other problems too, for example when I prompt to delete folder named "A" (my old username), the confirmation box asks me if I want to move folder "B" to the Recycle Bin.

Can someone tell me what is going on, why there are 2 folders, and which one is currently being used?

1When you change the name of a User the original profile isn't deleted. Additionally the actually profile isn't migrated. There is a seperate tool for that. If this was a domain user instead of a local user there are different steps you would do also. – Ramhound – 2014-08-15T10:54:11.573

You might have gone through a rename utility. None the same, changing from wendy to sally would entail more than just registry entries.
