Moving emails from inbox into folders in Outlook 2013

0

In 2007 I just dragged emails into the folder and they moved into the folder. Now I drag it but there is still a copy left in the inbox. How can I stop this happening, as I don't know if it has gone into the folder or not, and it is not user-friendly as instead of just one action, it is two actions...any thoughts on how to make it work like it did in 2007??

Instead of dragging it, right-click drag it and select MOVE instead of the default COPY. Microsoft usually MOVES to subfolders (or folders on the same disk) and COPIES to other locations. You can see this bahaviour by right-click dragging and looking at the bold entry in the sub menu. I would also help to know which mail server you are using. Different mail servers could cause different behaviour. – Jakke – 2014-06-24T23:56:04.740

"Weird things" can also happen if your PST file is getting too large or when you have problems with its database structure. Try to see what scanpst.exe finds on your pst file and if everything is OK, compact your pst file. – Jakke – 2014-06-24T23:58:26.510
