Catalyst Control Center is not showing Crossfire option - Windows 7

0

I run two Radeon HD 5670s. They have always been linked by Crossfire. After a recent crash, I noticed both my cards in Speccy displaying a temperature. Typically my second card doesn't run hot enough to get noticed.

I checked my CCC and neither under gaming nor performance is there an option to set up Crossfire while Speccy says it is disabled (though Speccy always thinks it is disabled).

My bottom card is certainly running, as is the card I connect my monitor to.

The top card has had a blown capacitor so I need to jump start the fan on it every day but it still runs.

Both video card fans are running and they are both seated correctly with wires connected properly. Crossfire is also seated properly. I have been unable to deduce what has gone wrong. Anyone else experience a similar problem?

It may also be worth noting that everything is fully up to date, be it Windows Updates, CCC version, AVG Virus definitions, etc. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-20T10:35:43.707

Well because the second card is physically damaged its entirely possible the crossfire functionality itself also is damaged on that card. – Ramhound – 2014-03-20T11:15:27.190

I've considered that a possibility, but kind of surprised how well the card is running. The device manager doesn't detect any issues. Due to this, I figured it'd be worth checking to see if anyone else experienced any similar issues that had been resolved. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-20T11:34:47.527

The simplest way to confirm its actually working is switch which card is the primary card. – Ramhound – 2014-03-20T11:52:27.380

You're absolutely right, but I damaged the releases a while back when I switched them before. Before I implemented alternative cooling procedures after another issue, the card kind of melted to the board. I'm a year or so overdo on building a new PC but simply don't have the funds at the present time in between jobs. If I try to switch them, I'm fairly certain I won't be able to get them back in; at least not the one. If no one else has experienced a similar issue, I'll just assume it's physically damaged and limit how hard I use the system until I can afford a new one; hopefully soon. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-20T12:00:58.837

I do appreciate your input, however. I was just hoping against hope it wouldn't be a physical issue. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-20T12:02:08.973

I will be honest you have at this point shared 3 major physical problems with the card in question, you are going to have to accept, that its likely not going to work. Your hope of it not being a physical issue isn't going to be reached. – Ramhound – 2014-03-20T12:07:30.027

Yea, I had thought it was beyond repair a few times after many failed troubleshootings since the initial issue. It always seemed to miraculously fix itself so I guess it made me a little too reliant. Thanks for your help. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-20T12:10:55.917

I just thought I'd add that somehow the Crossfire is working again. I left on business matters over the weekend and returned home. It shows up on CCC and is running better. This is the strangest system I've ever had. It seems to miraculously heal itself of most issues. – Mortiferous – 2014-03-28T03:52:01.803
