RDP blank screen > Hangs for 10 seconds > disconnects

0

I am trying to connect to Windows 2012 Server via RDP (using a win7 machine).

All settings are correctly configured to allow this.

The issue:

  1. I bring up Windows RDP
  2. Enter log in credentials
  3. Click Connect
  4. The RDP screen remains blank for 10 seconds and then I am disconnected

Not sure what is going on here... I have a couple other servers (same specs) that are working fine.

Have you tried logging in as a different user? Doe sit behave the same way? Anything in the RDS's Event Logs? – Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 – 2014-03-17T17:48:00.030

@techie007 Only one user, admin. Event logs are only reporting a remote desktop services: user authentication succeeded. – John – 2014-03-17T18:00:25.257

Well create a new user and try it. :) You need to determine if it's something specific to the user account, or the client workstation, or the server. – Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 – 2014-03-17T18:06:22.083

Alright- just ran through it, same story unfortunately. Any other ideas? I would power cycle it but I am running some scripts that I can't interrupt :( – John – 2014-03-17T18:12:13.937

If you're hands are tied in trying to fix it (ie: waiting for scripts etc.), then there's not much that we can do I'm afraid. You have to troubleshoot it, and if you think a reboot might help, then perform the reboot and then come back and edit your question to include what you've tried already, and what the results were. – Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 – 2014-03-17T18:15:06.197
