DVD Burning: I burn the first fine. Afterwards, no disc in drive will register until restart

0

I burn advertising DVDs to give to potential clients interested in our services. Burning used to be hassle free for the most part, but ever since getting a new burner, It would be ht and miss, some times burning properly, other times starting to burn, and ending with error messages saying it couldn't burn. It said I might need ot update drivers (which I did) or the CD may be of wrong format etc etc.

I replaced that burner the other day. Now, it will burn perfectly the first time. THen, when I go to burn another, I'm notified that there is no disc in the drive. It isn't until I restart the computer that it will register ANY disc in the drive.

Can anyone help? Kinda at my wits end.

Thank you in advance.

1I wonder if there's anything interesting in event logs – Journeyman Geek – 2013-10-06T13:51:23.870

Agree with @JourneymanGeek but also, what software are you using? Tried any alternatives? ImgBurn is free and powerful, but burning as a non-admin has its challenges. – Austin T French – 2013-10-06T16:36:15.497

I don't think I'm using any special program. It's just the default Burn function I think. I'm not the most computer-savy person hehe. How would I get the event log? – Phrozehn – 2013-10-08T18:12:07.410
